Talkadroid is a unique text-to-speech application that will read aloud and/or translate text in more than 50 different languages. It's like having your own personal reader and translator walking around with you wherever you go.

Sorprendentemente Fresco ("Amazingly Cool")

Like most great applications for Android devices, Talkadroid is easy to use, powerful, handy, and a ton of fun. It also can be used in a variety of helpful ways.

Scenario One: You are driving, cooking, or doing something else that prevents you from reading text on your phone. Just load that PDF, Microsoft Word, or .txt file into Talkadroid and have the app read it out loud to you while you continue with your activity. You can also copy and paste text into the app and do the same thing.

Scenario Two: Let's say you need to translate a document. With a tap of the screen, Talkadroid can convert your document or text between the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German. With another tap, it can read the text to you in that language. It even has a UK English setting, just in case you prefer a British accent.

Scenario Three: Maybe you need to communicate something quickly in another language, such as Japanese. Simply speak or type your chosen word or phrase into the app. Then select Japanese from Talkadroid's list of more than 50 languages and it will automatically translate the text on the screen for you (the app can only "speak" in the languages mentioned in the previous paragraph). Never have trouble asking where the bathroom is in a foreign location again.

Sounding Off

Talkadroid includes customizable soundboards that you can use to speak specific statements, questions, or miscellaneous phrases. It comes preloaded with buttons for common words and phrases that you might need, such as "Hello," "I want," "Thank you," and "Are they." Push the buttons in series to make a sentence. You can also create your own personalized phrase buttons, expressing anything from "I need a cash machine" to "Did the Yankees win last night?"

More Fun

Use Talkadroid to send your friends a personalized audio greeting or letter through e-mail. Or, take any text phrase and turn it into a ringtone or notification sound for your device. You can even adjust the speed and pitch of the audio playback if you need to. Enjoy the latest in text-to-speech technology with this app for Android.

I have been wanting something to use for notification tones on my phone instead of little chime noises. I wanted something that told me it was time to take medicine. I have an important medication that I need to take twice a day, but keep missing doses. Previously, I kept changing notification tones every couple of weeks for me to use with the Med Minder app. I would quickly get to where I tuned the notification tones out without realizing it. This is perfect! I just typed in exactly what I wanted my notification to say and chose the option to save as a notification/ringtone. In this case I used: "It's time to take your medicine. It's time to take your medicine." You can also add commas if you want to add a bit of a pause in between words. Voila! Much more helpful than lots of random chimes throughout the day for this super busy mom! It gives me something to verbally remind me of things I need to do. My sincere thanks to the app creator!

Good for beginners that are using it to communicate for themself. If it came with human voices, it would be 5stars.
