This is a movie that I wanted to like more than I did. I met the screenwriter at conventions and he seems pretty cool. The opening 10 minutes that set up the movie were an intriguing combination of decent acting and subtle exposition. Ethan Hawke plays a true crime writer who moves into a house that is a crime scene in order to write that one book that will make him famous. As he starts investigating the crime, he sees a lot of home movies that are all very disturbing. His research becomes even more insane as similar murders crop up other places.
